she’s a few moments past one,
I’m an old soul at thirty-four,
It’s 3am and I’m craving deep sleep,
she’s craving security and the beat of my heart.
I run to pick her up
like it’s the most important action
in the world – because it is.
Both repetitive and cherished.
My concerns over lack of sleep
which may lead to reduced corporate focus,
instantly dissolve –
as I watch her sleep,
peacefully in my arms.
